Monthly / Preventive Maintenance (PM)
This is a scheduled shutdown (e.g., 8 hours) for in-depth inspection and parts replacement.
1. Comprehensive Inspection:
· Bearings: Listen for noisy bearings and check for play in all rollers and cylinders.
· Cylinders & Rolls: Check for run-out (wobble) on all major cylinders (print, die, etc.).
· Electrical: Tighten electrical connections in control cabinets (after locking out/tagging out power). Check for overheating components.
· Pneumatics: Inspect air cylinders, valves, and hoses for leaks and proper operation.
· Servo Motors & Drives: Check for error logs and performance.
2. Calibration & Alignment:
· Print Registration: Verify and calibrate the longitudinal and lateral print registration system.
· Die Cutting Registration: Calibrate the die cutting registration to the print.
· Sheet Gap/Synchronization: Check the synchronization between sections.
· Gluing Pattern: Verify the accuracy of the gluing unit's timing and positioning.

Installing a Martin integrated production line-combining printing, slotting, die-cutting, and inline gluing-is a complex process requiring technical expertise. Proper installation ensures optimal performance and prevents premature wear .
First . Pre-Installation Preparation
Before the machine arrives, prepare the installation site. Ensure the floor can support the machine's weight and is perfectly level. Verify adequate clearance around all sides for maintenance access. Confirm that electrical power, compressed air supply, and dust extraction systems meet Martin's specifications. Have all necessary rigging equipment ready for unloading.
2nd. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully uncrate all machine sections: the vacuum feed unit, printing units (typically four colors), slotting unit, die-cutting unit, and inline gluer. Compare all components against the packing list. Inspect each part for shipping damage-cracks, dents, or bent shafts. Report any discrepancies immediately .

Position the main sections in order: feeder, printing stations, slotter, die-cutter, and gluer. Bolt sections together using alignment pins and shims to ensure perfect linear registration. Tighten all foundation bolts. Install the printing plates onto plate cylinders, slotting knives into the slotter head, and cutting dies into the die-cutting station. Mount glue wheels and hoses on the gluer section .
4. Electrical and Pneumatic Connection
Connect main power supply to the control cabinet. Wire all motors, sensors, and safety interlocks according to the electrical schematic. Connect compressed air lines to the feeder, vacuum system, and pneumatic clutch/brake units. Check for air leaks at all fittings .
5. Calibration and Testing
Adjust color registration, printing pressure, slotting knife clearance, and glue application timing. Set feed roller pressure based on board thickness. Run test sheets through the complete inline process. Verify box dimensions, print alignment, slot depth, and glue lap adhesion. Make fine adjustments as needed. Always have Martin-trained technicians supervise the final commissioning
