It has high-quality graphics and precise structural cuts to corrugated boards in a single, continuous production line, transforming flat sheets into finished, ready-to-assemble boxes.
The printing slotter die cutter process begins with the printing stage. The machine uses flexible photopolymer or rubber plates mounted on plate cylinders. These plates are inked by a ceramic anilox roll, which transfers a precise, controlled film of water-based or UV ink. As the corrugated paperboard sheet passes through each printing unit, the plate transfers the desired image onto the board surface. Multi-color designs are built up by passing the sheet through sequential printing units, each applying a different color with registration accuracy typically within ±0.5 mm. This allows carton factories to print company logos, product information, handling icons, barcodes, and decorative graphics directly onto shipping boxes, retail displays, and e-commerce containers.
Following printing, the sheet enters the slotting section. Here, rotating slotting knives cut precise slots into the box blank. These slots form the flaps that allow the box to fold and close properly. Accurate slotting is critical for downstream automatic box erecting on customer packing lines, ensuring that flaps meet without gaps or overlapping.
Some advanced models also include a die-cutting station. This allows the machine to cut custom shapes, handles, ventilation holes, or display windows in addition to standard slots. For many carton box applications - from pizza boxes to fruit crates to furniture cartons - the integrated printing and slotting machine delivers a complete box blank ready for folding, gluing, and shipping. This inline efficiency reduces labor, waste, and production time significantly.
